(NEW YORK, May 29th 2012) – After five years of being an influential fan-favorite, Britney’s Blackout has finally reached platinum status.

According to this week’s Ask Billboard column, Blackout‘s sales passed the 1-million-sales mark the week of July 24, 2011. This brings Britney’s total U.S. album sales for the length of her career to 32.5 million. An impressive figure, which makes her the 16th-best-selling album artist of the SoundScan era.

Britney is currently on the road, filming for her new gig as a judge of the X Factor.
